I love Batman. Everyone in my inner circle knows this fact. With that, My favourite trilogy of all time is Christopher Nolan's "Dark Knight Trilogy". Nolan had the vision of creating a universe where a man who dresses up as a bat fighting criminals could not just be believable, but needed. The grounded tone is what makes his Batman trilogy so meaningful to me.
With that in mind, isn't it ironic that my favourite scene of not only this series but any movie ever does not even involve the Caped Crusader in action? It takes place at Bruce's lowest point, stuck in the pit.
The scene is significant to me because we see Bruce overcome his fear of failure and get to see him overcome the many obstacles which can be a metaphor for so many aspects of everyday life.
As for when it takes place in the movie, his rise from the pit is captured after we have seen what he has to endure and obstacles he has had to overcome, not only throughout this film such as recovering from a broken back, but everything we have followed and grown to appreciate about Christian Bale's Bruce Wayne up to the final installment of this Dark Knight's journey.
Aside from the meaning of the scene itself, what also makes this scene for me is the auxiliary sound within it. From the other prisoners chanting Bruce on, to Hans Zimmer's iconic soundtrack blaring in the back, just writing about it makes me want to run through a wall.
"The Dark Knight Rises" is no doubt the messiest movie in Nolan's trilogy but this scene makes up alone for the faults of the movie. The pit scene never fails to hype me up or get me motivated.
All-Timer.
