The Silcoff Selections are here for Week 14 of the 2024 NFL Season! Below are my records for my straight up and against the spread picks for the season thus far.
Records Last Week:
Straight Up: 11-5
Against The Spread: 12-4
Season Records:
Straight Up: 127-68
Against The Spread: 99-91-5
Teams on Byes: Ravens, Broncos, Texans, Colts, Patriots, Commanders
Note: Lines are based on Bet365 at December 4th, 2024
Thursday Night Football: Green Bay Packers (9-3) @ Detroit Lions (11-1) I Line: Lions -3.5
The Lions have been the most consistent team in football this season, but injuries are starting to take their toll. Meanwhile, Green Bay is riding high on a three-game winning streak. Despite their strong season, Detroit's margin for error in the NFC North is slim, with the Vikings and Packers close behind. In what feels like a sneaky must-win game, the Lions come out on top.
Prediction: Lions 26, Packers 21
Early Sunday Slate
Atlanta Falcons (6-6) @ Minnesota Vikings (10-2) Line: Vikings -5.5
In Kirk Cousins' return to Minnesota, I expect the Vikings' pass rush to make his day difficult. The Falcons' offense has been extremely inconsistent in recent weeks, while the Vikings boast one of the league's best defenses this season. Minnesota also has a great opportunity to ignite their offense against an average Atlanta defense.
Prediction: Vikings 27, Falcons 17
New York Jets (3-9) @ Miami Dolphins (5-7) I Line: Dolphins -6
After a cold game at Lambeau, Miami faces a must-win situation to keep pace in the wild card race, while the Jets are cooked. With New York's season all but over, we might be witnessing the final weeks of Aaron Rodgers' professional career.
Prediction: Dolphins 26, Jets 17
New Orleans Saints (4-8) @ New York Giants (2-10) I Line: Saints -4.5
The Saints have shown new life under interim coach Darren Rizzi, but losing Taysom Hill is a significant blow. Fortunately for them, they’re up against the Giants, arguably the worst team in the league, who might not win another game this season.
Prediction: Saints 24, Giants 17
Carolina Panthers (3-9) @ Philadelphia Eagles (10-2) I Line: Eagles -12.5
Philadelphia is on a hot streak, and the Eagles should win this game with minimal trouble. However, the Panthers and Bryce Young have been very competitive over recent weeks. I think the Eagles will dominate the first half, but the Panthers will manage a backdoor cover late in the game.
Prediction: Eagles 28, Panthers 17
Cleveland Browns (3-9) @ Pittsburgh Steelers (9-3) I Line: Steelers -6.5
After the classic Jameis Winston rollercoaster performance on Monday night, I anticipate the Browns will struggle offensively this week. Meanwhile, following the Ravens' loss, the Steelers are now in prime position to win the division and should handle business at home.
Prediction: Steelers 27, Browns 20
Las Vegas Raiders (2-10) @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (6-6) I Line: Buccaneers -6.5
Backing Las Vegas is tough, but for Tampa, Baker Mayfield is a bit banged up. For some reason, I have a gut feeling the Raiders manage to keep it close. I anticipate a big performance from Brock Bowers, though it will likely come in a losing effort yet again.
Prediction: Buccaneers 24, Raiders 20
Jacksonville Jaguars (2-10) @ Tennessee Titans (3-9) I Line: Titans -3.5
In what might be the worst game of the weekend, I’ll take the points, especially considering the Titans have the league’s worst record against the spread at 2-10 this season.
Prediction: Titans 20, Jaguars 17
Sunday Afternoon Slate
Seattle Seahawks (7-5) @ Arizona Cardinals (6-6) I Line: Cardinals -2.5
With first place in the NFC West at stake, Arizona needs a win to avoid Seattle owning the tiebreaker. I’m leaning toward the Seahawks here—their defense keeps improving weekly, and they find ways to move the ball when it matters. Seattle gets the win and solidifies its grip on the division.
Prediction: Seahawks 21, Cardinals 17
Chicago Bears (4-8) @ San Francisco 49ers (5-7) I Line: 49ers -4
The 49ers have been overwhelmed by injuries, while the Bears have been so close to ending their losing streak in recent weeks. With a boost from interim coach Thomas Brown, I expect Chicago to pull of an upset road win for their new leader.
Prediction: Bears 23, 49ers 20
Buffalo Bills (10-2) @ Los Angeles Rams (6-6) I Line: Bills -4
Buffalo is playing like the top team in the AFC and remains in the hunt for the No. 1 seed in the conference. The last time these teams met in a game that opened the 2022 season, Josh Allen dominated a Rams defense that included Aaron Donald and Jalen Ramsey. Without those two stars, I expect a similar outcome this time, as Allen continues to strengthen his MVP case.
Prediction: Bills 26, Rams 20
Sunday Night Football: Los Angeles Chargers (8-4) @ Kansas City Chiefs (11-1) I Line: Chiefs -4
The Chiefs have benefited from remarkable luck, but I can’t see them continuing to get away with such sloppy play, especially against good teams. The Chargers have embraced a more physical style, and I believe this is the game where Jim Harbaugh and Justin Herbert show they’re a legitimate threat in the AFC by upsetting their division rival in primetime.
Prediction: Chargers 23, Chiefs 21
Monday Night Football: Cincinnati Bengals (4-8) @ Dallas Cowboys (5-7) I Line: Bengals -5.5
Cincinnati’s playoff hopes may be effectively over, but the Bengals are undeniably more talented than Dallas. While I expect the Bengals to put up points in bunches, their struggling defense remains a major issue. CeeDee Lamb shines for Dallas, but the Bengals escape with a narrow victory.
Prediction: Bengals 30, Cowboys 26
