Despite an MVP-caliber season from quarterback Joe Burrow, the Cincinnati Bengals are 4-8 and will almost surely miss the postseason, mainly due to their horrendous defense. This disappointing season should prompt major changes within the organization, one of which should include the firing of head coach Zach Taylor. Given Burrow's injury history, there is a limited amount of time to take advantage of his prime, so the Bengals should do everything possible to land Bill Belichick after the season ends.

With six Super Bowl victories, nine AFC Championships, and a reputation as one of the best football minds in history—particularly on the defensive side of the ball—Belichick's career speaks for itself. The Bengals' already talented roster would benefit from his ability to assemble disciplined teams that play smart football. Belichick has an unmatched championship history, and his arrival would immediately boost the team's chances of winning a championship, especially if he can turn the defense around quickly.

Of course, hiring Belichick wouldn't come at a bargain, especially for this Bengals ownership group, but Cincinnati cannot afford to be cheap. With Burrow signed to a long-term contract and the AFC more competitive than ever with elite quarterback play, the Bengals must act. Signing the greatest coach in history would demonstrate the team's full commitment to winning a Super Bowl with Burrow at the helm.

The Bengals should be one of the NFL's elite teams, and they should not accept seasons like the one we’ve seen this year. Cincinnati needs to make every effort to hire Belichick in order to fully capitalize on their Super Bowl window while Burrow remains healthy and one of the NFL's best quarterbacks. Belichick and Burrow would instantly become one of the league’s most feared head coach and quarterback duos, combining a brilliant defensive mind with one of the most talented quarterbacks in the game. Together, they could lead the Bengals to sustained success and make them serious contenders for years to come or until Belichick decides to walk away.

Make it happen Mike Brown.
