I’m Starting To Get Nervous About The Batman Part II & Spider-Man 4

Two of my favourite superhero flicks of not only the five years but of all time are "Spider-Man: No Way Home" & "The Batman".

In "No Way Home", we got to see all of our live-action Spider-Men appear on screen together taking on each other's villains from different worlds in a multiverse bonanza that could not help but put a smile on your face seeing your childhood all come together in a way you only could dreamt of.

With "The Batman", we got to see the Caped Crusader come back to his roots in a Year Oneish Gotham Tale where we see our Dark Knight starting to get a grasp on the responsibilities of being Gotham's savoir while he tries to unmask the truth of who is terrorizing his city throughout the film.

Although both films could not be any different from one another, both did an excellent job giving a satisfying ending to the respective lead's arc throughout that story, while also setting up the future of the Web Crawler and the World's Greatest Detective in their respective universes.

Both movies' endings made fans excited for what is to come in the next installment of each franchise. With where we left the previous movies, both are set up to be some of the most captivating entries we have gotten in a live-action Spidey or Batman movie to date.

Unfortunately, since both movies were released in late 2021 and early 2022, we have gotten very few positive updates regarding what's to come.

"The Batman Part II" was set to release in October 2025 but was delayed to October 2026. Additionally, DC Studios boss James Gunn recently responded to a fan on X stating that the film's script is still being worked on by Director Matt Reeves, which is a tad scary as he has had nearly two-and-a-half years to put pen to paper on the Bat's next journey in Gotham.

With Spider-Man 4, we have not heard much at all in terms of casting, plot, release date, or frankly anything. We have no idea who is directing the much-anticipated sequel to "No Way Home", and we have not gotten any concrete information that star Tom Holland has signed a deal to return as the Web-Head in a fourth film that would finally see him play a more traditional Peter Parker as the ending of "No Way Home" set up for his version of the character, including a possible symbiote storyline.

With that information in mind, I am starting to get slightly nervous that both of these films may not happen, which would be devastating for me as I am so invested in both of these characters' journeys, especially with Pattinson's Batman. In my opinion, if his potential trilogy is done correctly, it could join some of the great trilogies of all time with the way things are set up after "The Batman" where this Bruce Wayne has gone from an angry vigilante who wears the cape for selfish reasons, to someone who realizes he needs to become a symbol of hope for the people of Gotham if he wants to make a real difference.

Ultimately, I do think both of these movies will be released, but until I see some actual footage or get confirmation that these films are rolling behind cameras, I will still be a little anxious that we may never get to connect with these versions of these characters again.
