A Year Out, Let's Predict The Top 10 For 2025's NFL Top 100 Players List

Over the weekend, the NFL's top 10 players were announced from the league's annual top 100 players list, and boy did it cause a lot of fireworks.

Specifically, Patrick Mahomes, the reigning two-time Super Bowl champion and MVP quarterback, who is unanimously known as the league's best player, was ranked as the fourth-best player in the league and somehow, the second-ranked quarterback behind Lamar Jackson.

Miami Dolphins receiver Tyreek Hill was voted as the league's top player.

As the NFL season approaches, I figured I would take a swing at this and try to predict who will be featured on next year's top 10 players just before the 2025 NFL season.

Just Missed The Cut:

  • Lamar Jackson

  • Chris Jones

  • Trent Williams

10. Christian McCaffrey, RB, San Francisco 49ers (2024 Rank: 3)

McCaffrey is still the engine that runs the 49ers offence, and I expect another monster season out of CMC. However, with Brock Purdy eligible to be extended after this season, I believe the 49ers will try to take a bit of the load off their star running back to see if Purdy can carry more responsibility before they give the quarterback a monster payday.

McCaffrey will still crack the top 10, but with fewer touches, I expect his production to drop slightly.

9. Joe Burrow, QB, Cincinnati Bengals (2024 Rank: 39)

As long as he is healthy, Joe Burrow is a top 3 quarterback in the NFL and can argue that he is the guy that should be viewed as the number two in the league's quarterback rankings.

Burrow has a bounce back season after an injury-riddled 2023 campaign as he brings the Bengals back to the post-season where they will have their eyes set on a Super Bowl title.

8. Justin Jefferson, WR, Minnesota Vikings (2024 Rank: 18)

In my opinion, Justin Jefferson is the best wide receiver in football. Unfortunately for him, unlike the other two n receivers who will pop up on this list, we have no idea what to expect from the Vikings QB room in 2024, which could impact his production.

Jefferson returns to the top 10 in 2024 but will rank third among his position group.

7. Micah Parsons, EDGE, Dallas Cowboys (2024 Rank: 17)

The most versatile player on the defensive side of the ball, Micah Parsons is in line to be the highest-paid defensive player in the history of the NFL. With generation wealth on the line, Parsons will enjoy his best season to date to cement his worth to the Cowboys.

6. Tyreek Hill, WR, Miami Dolphins (2024 Rank: 1)

The top-ranked player on the 2024 list will always be a staple in the league's top ten players, but due to his quarterback's health uncertainty, to go along with Hill's age, I can envision a scenario where we do begin to see some slippage for Hill that opens the door for someone new to be voted as the league's top receiver in 2025.

5. CeeDee Lamb, WR, Dallas Cowboys (2024 Rank: 13)

Yup, I believe CeeDee Lamb will have the best receiving season in the NFL this season as he lands in the top 5 of this list.

Unlike Hill and Jefferson, Lamb does not have anyone to worry about stealing targets from him in his position room.

I have not predicted it, but I would not shocked at all if Lamb ends the season with 2k receiving yards while taking home the Offensive Player of The Year Award.

4. T.J. Watt, EDGE, Pittsburgh Steelers (2024 Rank: 8)

A pillar of consistency, T.J. Watt will always be in the conversation for Defensive Player of The Honours which will make him regularly appear in the top 10.

Watt has another great season and finds himself inside the top four this time next year.

3. Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills (2024 Rank: 12)

I am going out on a limb because, on paper, this should be the worst weapon he has had since his second season in the league. Nevertheless, I believe Josh Allen is about to have the best season in his career, and if the Bills are going to compete for a Super Bowl in 2024, they will need him to do just that.

In 2024, I believe Allen will do his best job yet at taking what the defense gives him while cutting back on the turnovers as the Bills win the division for the 5th straight season.

Allen continues where he left off in 2023 with a new cast of characters, Allen makes the top 3 on 2025's list.

2. Myles Garrett, EDGE, Cleveland Browns (2024 Rank: 5)

The reigning defensive player, Myles Garett I believe will take another step forward somehow in 2024 by firmly establishing himself as the best defensive player in football.

If the Browns hope to make the playoffs for back-to-back years for the first time since 1989, they will need to hope for Deshaun Watson to find an ounce of his 2020 season, while also relying on Garrett to keep the best defense in football from a year ago a elite unit once again in 2024.

  1. Patrick Mahomes, QB, Kansas City Chiefs (2024 Rank: 4)

After getting snubbed from the top 3 in 2024, Patrick Mahomes will return to the top of the NFL's Top 100 list as the league's best player going into the 2025 season.

I expect the ranking this year to be one of the many pieces of motivation Mahomes will have in the back of his mind to use as fuel in 2024 as he and the Chiefs look to make history by becoming the first team to ever win three straight Super Bowls.

Patrick Mahomes, the NFL's #1 player for not only 2025, but for the foreseeable future.
