Bucket lists, we all have them, don't we? We are always trying to find experiences we can take on throughout our lifetimes so that at the end of our lives we can say "I did that".
In my case, I have a bucket list of sport-specific items I would love to cross off my bucket list one day. Although my list has way more than the events you will read about that I would like
to attend, and eventually, I will provide more, let's start with five to get the ball rolling.
Montreal Canadiens Home Playoff Game
If you know me, you knew this was coming, so why don't we get it out of the way?
The Montreal Canadiens are the most storied franchise in the NHL, and I am proud to say I am a part of the most passionate fanbase in the game. The atmosphere pops off the screen when watching a Habs playoff game at the Bell Centre, and you can feel the tension inside the building, in a good and bad way.
As a lifelong fan of this team, I need to be in that electric environment at least one time in my life, ideally with my father and brother.
2. Baseball Games at; Wrigley Field, Fenway Park, and Yankee Stadium
Is baseball my favourite sport? Of course not. Is baseball even one of my three favourite sports? No.
Even with that in mind, there is no denying that these three ballparks are three of the most iconic venues in all of North American sports. Because of that, I would treasure the opportunity to enjoy America's pastime on a hot summer's day.
Because all these venues reside on the East Coast, who knows, perhaps I could make an adventure of it, and try to visit all three stadiums on the same trip.
3. Watch LeBron James Play Live
Time is running out for me to watch my favourite athlete of all time play live. Thus if this is going to happen, it will likely need to be in the next year or two. Because of the distance, the most logical game I would attend would be LeBron against the Trailblazers, but here's to hoping the NBA expands to either Seattle or Las Vegas before James hangs up his shoes.
4. A World Cup Match
Much like baseball, soccer is not a sport I particularly have much investment in. However, we're talking about the World Cup here, the biggest sporting event in the world. I would be a fool if I had no interest in attending one of those games.
With the tournament coming to North America in 2026, I can see a world where I cross this off my sports bucket list.
5. A December or January Game at Lambeau Field
Very few stadiums are more iconic than Lambeau Field, home of the Green Bay Packers. To add onto that, Lambeau is known for being one of the more aesthetically pleasing in the NFL, especially when football season starts to wind down. Because of its history, I would love to attend an NFC North clash between the Packers and one of their division rivals on the Frozen Tundra.
The only problem, I would have to fly to Wisconsin, in the winter... Maybe one day I will be passing through Green Bay, and that's how I can visit the house that Vince Lombardi built.
